Terms of Service
Effective and last updated: July 13, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and the community tournament organizers operating SpikeSync(the "Operator") governing your access to SpikeSync and its tournament, registration, drafting, team, match, bracket, trade, notification, moderation, and related services (the "Service"). By accessing or using the Service, signing in, registering for an event, or participating through the Service, you agree to these Terms and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Service rules and event rules
These Terms govern use of the Service. Rules published for a particular tournament ("Event Rules") supplement these Terms and govern that event's format, eligibility, scheduling, conduct, prizes, and competitive decisions. Event Rules control on an event-specific operational issue if they conflict with a general description on the Service. These Terms continue to control access to and acceptable use of the Service. Mandatory law controls where it cannot be varied by agreement.
Administrators, moderators, captains, referees, and other volunteers may act for the Operator within their assigned roles. Their access does not make them owners of the Service or authorize them to make commitments outside those roles.
2. Eligibility and legal capacity
- You must be at least 13 years old and meet any higher minimum age imposed by Discord, Riot Games, applicable law, or the Event Rules.
- If you are below the age of majority where you live, a parent or legal guardian must review and consent to these Terms and the Event Rules where required.
- You must be legally permitted to use the Service and the connected platforms and must not be suspended, banned, or otherwise ineligible.
- Event Rules may impose higher age, residency, rank, roster, platform, account, or guardian requirements.
- The Operator may require reasonable evidence of eligibility and may refuse or remove a registration that cannot be verified.
3. Discord account and Riot identity
- Discord is used for sign-in. You are responsible for the security and authorized use of your Discord account.
- You must provide accurate, current Discord, Riot ID, registration, availability, rank, role, and roster information.
- You must not impersonate another person, transfer or share an event account, conceal a relevant alternate account, evade a restriction, or misrepresent account ownership.
- You must promptly tell tournament staff if a linked account is compromised or information associated with you is materially wrong.
- The Operator may correct, unlink, restrict, or require re-verification of an identity where reasonably necessary for security or competitive integrity.
4. Limited right to use the Service
Subject to these Terms, the Operator grants you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable, and non-sublicensable right to access and use the Service for its intended community-tournament purposes. You may not sell, rent, sublicense, commercially exploit, mirror, or operate the Service for another event without permission.
The Service's software, design, original text, graphics, databases, and functionality are owned by or licensed to the Operator. No ownership or other intellectual-property right is transferred to you. Game names, game data, artwork, platform marks, and other third-party materials remain the property of their respective owners.
5. Riot Games, Discord, and other third parties
SpikeSync isn't endorsed by Riot Games and doesn't reflect the views or opinions of Riot Games or anyone officially involved in producing or managing Riot Games properties. Riot Games, and all associated properties are trademarks or registered trademarks of Riot Games, Inc.
This competition is not affiliated with or sponsored by Riot Games, Inc. or VALORANT Esports. VALORANT and related marks are owned by Riot Games, Inc. Organizers and participants must comply with applicable Riot rules, including the current VALORANT tournament and developer policies, as well as Riot's terms, Discord's terms and community rules, and any rules of a broadcast or communications platform used for the event.
The Service may link to or depend on Discord, Riot services, other configured game-data providers, hosting, DNS, font, storage, and network services. Those services are governed by their own terms and policies. Their inclusion does not imply endorsement, and the Operator does not control their availability, accuracy, account actions, rate limits, or policy changes.
Entering or confirming a Riot ID and accepting tournament-data terms does not itself authorize Riot account access. Where Riot Sign On is required, identified Riot API data will remain unavailable until SpikeSync has the required Riot approval and the participant completes the Riot authorization flow.
You may withdraw Riot authorization through your profile. Withdrawal deactivates the account link and stops identified Riot provider data from being refreshed or shown in public, player, captain, and moderator views. It is not a deletion request: cached provider data may remain internally under the Privacy Policy and may become available again if you reauthorize the account, subject to the policies then in effect.
6. Registration, scheduling, and match obligations
- Registration is not guaranteed until accepted under the Event Rules and any required checks are complete.
- You are responsible for monitoring the Service and designated Discord channels for schedules, ready checks, draft turns, match instructions, disputes, and changes.
- You must arrive on time, remain reasonably reachable, use the assigned roster and account, and follow lobby, map, server-region, streaming, and evidence requirements.
- You must report results honestly and provide screenshots, logs, recordings, or other reasonable evidence when requested.
- Missed check-ins, no-shows, late responses, unavailable rosters, or failure to provide required evidence may result in a forfeit, reschedule, removal, or another remedy stated in the Event Rules.
- Automated notices are a convenience and may be delayed or fail. Failure of a notice does not by itself excuse an obligation that was otherwise published.
7. Captains, teams, drafts, and trades
Captains are responsible for making authorized draft and trade decisions, communicating with their roster, protecting team-only channels, and using delegated Discord permissions only for team administration. Captains may not use those permissions to retaliate, interfere with another team, conceal evidence, or violate Discord or Event Rules. Each participant remains responsible for their own conduct.
Draft order, player values, budgets, roster limits, trades, locks, seeds, queues, and brackets are governed by the configured tournament settings and Event Rules. The Operator may correct an invalid or duplicated action, restore a prior state, redraw or regenerate affected assets, or use a fair substitute procedure where a technical or administrative error prevents the configured process from operating as intended.
8. Competitive integrity and participant conduct
You must not:
- cheat, exploit a bug, use unauthorized software, stream-snipe, ghost, collude, fix a match, manipulate a bracket, falsify evidence, or intentionally misreport a result;
- smurf, conceal an alternate account, share an account, evade a ban, manipulate rank or eligibility, or help another person do so;
- harass, threaten, stalk, dox, discriminate against, defame, or abuse participants, captains, volunteers, staff, or other users;
- interfere with another participant's device, connection, account, communications, or ability to compete;
- submit a knowingly false report or misuse a report, appeal, vote, or moderation process;
- engage in gambling or any unlawful contest activity through the Service.
9. Platform acceptable use
You must not:
- probe, scan, scrape, overload, disrupt, or attempt unauthorized access to the Service, its data, another account, or connected systems;
- bypass access controls, privacy settings, rate limits, or security features;
- reverse engineer, decompile, modify, frame, mirror, or systematically extract the Service except where applicable law expressly permits it;
- upload malware, hidden tracking code, or unlawful, infringing, deceptive, hateful, sexually exploitative, or otherwise harmful material;
- collect or use player, Discord, Riot, or tournament information for spam, stalking, commercial profiling, model training, or an unrelated purpose without a lawful basis and permission;
- misrepresent affiliation with the Operator, Riot Games, Discord, a sponsor, or another person or organization.
10. Team logos, names, reports, and other submissions
You retain ownership of material you submit. You grant the Operator a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, copy, resize, cache, display, transmit, and preserve that material only as reasonably necessary to operate, secure, moderate, document, and publicize the applicable event and the Service. This license lasts while the material is used for those purposes, including reasonable archival, backup, dispute, and historical-record periods.
You represent that you have the rights and permissions required for each submission and that it does not violate law, privacy, publicity, copyright, trademark, or another person's rights. Do not submit passwords, access tokens, government identifiers, financial details, or other sensitive information that is not required. The Operator may reject, edit for technical display, restrict, or remove material that violates these Terms, Event Rules, platform policy, law, or safety standards.
11. Privacy, public records, and randomized identities
The Privacy Policy explains how information is collected, used, disclosed, retained, and protected. Tournament pages are intended to publish event information. Depending on the event settings, a participant's name or alias, Riot ID, rank, role, team, cost, draft history, match data, schedule, trade, result, and bracket information may be visible to the public, signed-in users, captains, moderators, or administrators. Player Discord identities are never included in public-facing tournament pages.
A hidden or randomized display is not a promise of anonymity. The Operator and authorized staff may retain the underlying identity for account security, event operation, integrity, reports, disputes, and legal obligations. Other public or contextual information may also permit a person to be identified.
12. Rankings, calculations, and automated outputs
Ranks, match records, inferred roles, performance values, player costs, seeds, queue order, and similar outputs may be obtained from third parties or calculated by the Service. They may be incomplete, delayed, unavailable, or wrong. Authorized staff may review, override, correct, lock, or recalculate them under the Event Rules. You may raise a correction or competitive review through the published event channel, but no particular rank, value, selection, team, seed, or outcome is guaranteed.
13. Communications and Discord notifications
The Service may send operational messages through Discord or display notices on the site, including registration, draft-turn, trade, team, match, result, moderation, security, and policy information. Some notification types may be configurable by an administrator; messages necessary to operate or protect an event may still be sent. Delivery depends on Discord permissions, account settings, configured channels, and third-party availability.
14. Fees, prizes, taxes, and refunds
SpikeSync does not currently process entry fees or prize payments. If an event offers a fee, prize, reimbursement, or sponsor benefit, the Event Rules must identify the responsible organizer or sponsor, eligibility, value, payment conditions, deadlines, taxes, and any refund or substitution policy. Unless expressly stated in those rules, registration does not create a right to a prize, payment, refund, or compensation. Participants are responsible for taxes and required information associated with a prize they accept.
15. Organizer decisions, evidence, and appeals
Tournament staff may investigate, require evidence, correct records, pause a draft or match, order a replay, apply a forfeit, reverse an invalid action, restrict privileges, disqualify a participant or team, or take another proportionate measure to enforce these Terms, Event Rules, safety, and competitive integrity. Decisions may account for the reliability and timing of evidence, impact on other matches, and the need to finish an event fairly.
An appeal must use the event's published channel and deadline. If none is published, contact the organizer promptly with the event, match or action, requested remedy, and supporting evidence. A decision after the available review process is final for event administration, subject to rights that cannot lawfully be waived.
16. Service changes, outages, and force majeure
The Operator may update, correct, restrict, suspend, or discontinue all or part of the Service. Events may be delayed, reformatted, relocated, shortened, or cancelled because of platform outages, API rate limits, security incidents, power or network failures, severe weather, public-health events, venue issues, legal or platform requirements, insufficient participation, or other circumstances beyond reasonable control. Where practical, the Operator will communicate a material event change and use a reasonable substitute process.
17. Suspension and termination
You may stop using the Service at any time. The Operator may suspend or end access, registration, captain or staff privileges, or event participation where reasonably necessary to enforce these Terms or Event Rules, protect a person or system, comply with law or platform requirements, investigate misconduct, or preserve tournament integrity. Records may remain for security, event history, audits, reports, disputes, backups, and legal obligations as described in the Privacy Policy.
18. Disclaimers
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service and all event-management outputs are provided "as is" and "as available." The Operator disclaims warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, availability, and uninterrupted or error-free operation. Participation is voluntary and at your own risk. Nothing in these Terms excludes a warranty, remedy, or consumer right that cannot lawfully be excluded.
19. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Operator and tournament staff will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages; loss of opportunity, reputation, prizes, data, profits, or goodwill; third-party conduct; platform sanctions; or service interruption arising from the Service or an event. If liability cannot be excluded, aggregate liability will be limited to the amount you paid directly to the Operator for the affected event during the 12 months before the event that gave rise to the claim, unless applicable law requires a different remedy. This section does not limit liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including liability for fraud or wilful misconduct where the law so provides.
20. Responsibility for claims
To the extent permitted by law, you are responsible for losses, liabilities, and reasonable costs resulting from your unlawful use of the Service, your infringement of another person's rights, material you submit, or your material breach of these Terms. This does not require you to compensate a party for its own negligence or misconduct and does not apply where indemnification is prohibited by applicable law.
21. Governing law and disputes
Before starting a formal claim, you and the Operator should attempt in good faith to resolve the issue through the contact method below, unless urgent relief is reasonably necessary. These Terms are governed by the law determined by applicable conflict-of-law and mandatory consumer-protection rules; the Operator has not yet published a specific governing jurisdiction. Nothing in this section prevents a person from using a regulator, small-claims process, or court available under mandatory law.
22. General terms
- If a provision is unenforceable, it will be limited or removed only as necessary and the remaining provisions continue in effect.
- A delay or failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver.
- You may not transfer your rights or obligations without permission. The Operator may transfer operation of the Service with appropriate notice and subject to applicable privacy obligations.
- These Terms, the Privacy Policy, and applicable Event Rules form the agreement for the Service and replace prior statements on the same subject.
- Sections concerning intellectual property, submissions, records, disclaimers, liability, disputes, and provisions that by their nature should survive continue after access ends.
- Headings are for organization only. Electronic notices and records may be used where legally permitted.
23. Changes to these Terms
The Operator may update these Terms to reflect changes to the Service, events, law, or third-party requirements. The updated date will be shown above. Material changes may also be announced through the Service or tournament Discord and may require express acceptance. Changes will not be applied retroactively where prohibited. Stop using the Service if you do not agree to revised Terms.
24. Contact and notices
For a legal notice, intellectual-property concern, accessibility issue, or question about these Terms, contact the tournament organizer through the official tournament Discord server. For a match or tournament ruling, use the event's published review channel first. Include enough detail to identify the issue, but do not send passwords, authentication tokens, or unnecessary sensitive information.
